One quick call to Hotel Polaris, and within minutes, they had printed over 100 pages — no hesitation, just help.” That’s the kind of dedication that sets Hotel Polaris apart. Whether it’s offering discounts for CPC events, providing thoughtful gifts for service animals at our New Appointee Event, or ensuring our tailgates have ice and supplies — they consistently go above and beyond. USAFA is working with iFly to train our cadets! Read on for some awesome information about their partnership.
iFLYing High: How a simulator elevates the Wings of Blue Cadet experience At the U.S. Air Force Academy, the Airmanship 490 freefall parachute program is the premier leadership and character development experience. USAFA is the only drop zone in the world where individuals engage in solo unassisted freefall for their first skydive. The program forces cadets to face their fears, rely on their training, and build warrior ethos. The program has an unprecedented safety record. One of the most impactful tools enabling our success and enhancing the cadet experience today is the vertical wind tunnel at iFLY Colorado Springs. The partnership with the state-of-the-art indoor skydiving facility that has fundamentally transformed the way we train, coach, and prepare for both Airmanship 490 and competitive parachuting. Leadership Development Through Coaching One of the most exciting byproducts of our iFly integration is the enhanced mentorship it enables. Senior cadets are able to coach junior team members in a consolidated, consistent setting. This real-time feedback loop in the tunnel setting strengthens the bonds between teammates, sharpens instructional skills, and reinforces our core leadership principles. Seniors not only improve their own proficiency but gain vital experience in guiding and developing others—an essential trait for future officers. A Culture of Excellence, Reinforced iFLY Colorado Springs is owned and operated by three graduates from the U.S. Air Force Academy. One of the owners was the previous group commander of the USAFA airfield. The shared history and culture pushes both organizations to new heights. Thanks to our partnership with iFLY Colorado Springs, Wings of Blue cadets are training smarter, safer, and with more precision than ever before. The tunnel provides a platform to push limits, build confidence, and instill a relentless drive for mastery. It’s not just a supplement to our skydiving experience—it’s a force multiplier for the mission. ~Written by the Formation Skydiving Coach for the Wings of Blue |
