"PINNACLE” Spring Training Event

TRW Warriors,

This past November witnessed the 34th Training Wing, along with the rest of the Academy, conducting a major training event, the Commandant’s Challenge. This event challenged the cadet wing to pull together as squadrons and pushed them to plan, train and coordinate in order to succeed. This semester, the 34th Training Wing will again face a major training event designed to challenge the cadet wing to reach higher levels of achievement in basic military standards and physical fitness. This event will be called the “Pinnacle.”

The Pinnacle will be the culmination event of each class’s successful completion of their military training year at USAFA. The leadership attributes gleaned by each class will be graded as well as the preparedness of each class to accept the roles and responsibilities they will enter upon the commissioning of the Class of 2005. Please read the attached Warning Order for a mission outline. Complete details will be contained in the OPORD scheduled for release on 3 Feb 05.

From 15 to 23 Apr 05, the cadet wing will complete the Pinnacle in two separate and distinct phases. These two phases will assess cadet leadership and military training through a series of inspections, physical challenges and ceremonies to assess operational readiness and reinforce Air Force heritage and USAFA traditions. All events will be structured around element leadership and will be executed and evaluated on the element level.

All classes will demonstrate a proficiency in knowledge of AFMAN 10-100 (Airman’s Manual) and OI 36-3501 (Cadet Sight Picture). Each class is also expected to perform the leadership expectations outlined in the Officer Development System through quantifiable evaluations.

1. Fourth class cadets will reach the pinnacle of their year as they are awarded their Prop and Wings for demonstration of personal leadership skills and the ability to perform in future positions as role models.

2. Third class cadets will demonstrate interpersonal leadership skills to validate their promotion to cadet wing noncommissioned officers.

3. Second class cadets will demonstrate their ability to take on the role of leading the cadet wing with demonstration of team leadership skills.

4. First class cadets will prove their organizational leadership skills as they lead their squadrons, flights and elements and demonstrate their readiness to become commissioned officers in the United States Air Force.

All classes will be pushed physically by Pinnacle events and will need to start immediately to train and prepare in order to be successful. I expect every cadet in the wing to accept the challenge to reach the pinnacle of their year by not just passing this event but by exceeding the standards set and achieving new heights of success. Good luck!
