Meeting called to Order: President Kathy Zaccagnini called the meeting to order. Marilyn Peterson did not have the secretary notes from October 31, 2007 with her, but they are on the website and it was motioned to accept them per that information and a brief verbal recall of the minutes.
Treasurer’s Report: Dave Yip reported that the Money Market had over $17,000. Our checking account maintains the usual $1000 that we keep in it to pay minor expenses that come in over the months. Dave said there were still some expenses coming back from the Valentine’s Goodie Bag drop and will report shortly on the revenue/expenses from this drop. Dave also discussed the new bags that were purchased for this drop.
**Money Market: $17,690.37
Checking Acct.: $ 3,267.01
Emergency: $ 3,001.10
Old Business: Rise’said that the 2007 All -Academy Ball (hosted by West Point) had a record turnout. Invitations went out to all Colorado Air Force cadets and their families and 27 cadets with their families did attend. There are leftover glasses and coins for sale (contact is Rise’ riserefb@comcast.net ) that are commemorative of this 50th anniversary of the A.F. Academy. The 2008 Ball will be hosted by the Merchant Marine and Coast Guard Academies. Air Force will be in charge of the invitations this 2008 year. The cost of a room at the Broadmoor is quite reasonable for this event and much less expensive than any other time.
Tammy Holley and Kathy Symalla reported that the list for cadet carpooling is out and there is some activity with other parents. As it becomes more known, possibly more parents will want to take advantage of it.
Tammy Holley reported that Jack Bernazzi from the Rando Fund, is using funds at his discretion for use for Cadet Lindsay Brown from Florida who was killed in a head-on near her home in Florida at Christmas time. Her entombment will be at the A.F. Academy but at this time the family is not ready for her burial. Tammy said the family knows we are here for them but will contact us if needed.
New Business: The cost of the game and luncheon this coming Feb. 16th is $15. Basically, the game is free and the luncheon is $15. At that time nominations will be taken for officer positions being vacated, Secretary, **Vice President, and President. Kelly and Tim Jude have said they would like the Presidency and Lulu and Dave Yip will continue as Treasurers. Sandy and John Beatty have expressed interest in the Secretary position and are very active with the 2011 parent class. Our webmaster position is also available as Kelly Jude has been keeping the site updated over these past few years. There was discussion about the need for our C3Cand C4C parent members to consider helping in other ways within our club-- i.e. Goodie Bag Chairperson or Picnics/Tailgate organization.
Senior Gifts: There was discussion about the senior gifts and the leftover frames from last year and how many we will need to purchase for the upoming Senior Dinner. Kathy Z. has contacted Wellco Mfg. Company (who make the Saber cases) and will get an estimate for 6-7 more frames. Brenda Beins will look into making them ourselves and she has a friend who can do the engraving. There should be 28 CPC seniors that will be invited to the dinner.
March 30, 2008 Senator Wayne Allard will be having an Open House for parents and incoming nominees at the Douglas County Government Bldg. in Castle Rock. Rise’ Foster-Bruder will be there to represent our CPC.
Having a 2008 incoming appointee lunch/brunch/dinner was brought up and Marilyn P. will contact CPC member Darryl Searuggs and other parents that might be interested in making that a possibility since it has been 4 years since a welcoming reception has taken place. Terrell Mayton expressed an interest in having a picnic/lunch in June for all new 2008 Colorado appointees. Fielding questions from new parents is a way our club can really help and relieve anxiety of new cadets and their parents as well as welcome any new members.
Final Goodie Bag Drop: Will be held May 10th. Parents were reminded to make sure we had the correct squadron for their cadet.
